That's A ONESIE??

It sure is! You may recognize it from my signature Honeysuckle Cyanide profile picture.

I absolutely LOVE it and wear it all time. And it was only $10 from my favourite new store that you may have heard me mention a few times called V Generation

You may also have noticed that when you click on the link it will merely take you to it's Yelp page. That is because they are so small and unknown that they don't even have a real page to go to which I think is so unfortunate because I am literally obsessed with this store. Think of all of your favourite things from Forever 21 downsized into one little store where everything is at least 25% cheaper and all of their jewelry is only $2.

Yeah. I KNOW.

So if you live in the Arcadia or Pasadena area you should definitely check it out at the Westfield Santa Anita Mall!

Of course as I was about to leave the house, I realized it was much colder than I thought and got all excited (lol) and changed into a more bundled up version.

Is That A New Sweater?

Why yes, as a matter of fact it is! It's pretty much my FAVOURITE new sweater, it's only competition being the exact same one that I also got in mint.

(I know this outfit seems a tad bit revealing, but I feel like in contrast to the conservativeness of the long pants & long sleeves, plus the sweet innocent colour makes it no more daring than a regular shirt with a plunging neckline. Plus, it was a chilly Sunday with second-day-hair and I wasn't really going anywhere but the store. SUE ME.)

Another outfit in the mint, because I just can't get enough.

Now, I know the sweater isn't strictly flattering -- there's no defined waistline or anything -- but sometimes I find that I don't need one. Yes, I am a fairly curvy girl and usually plan all of my outfits around accentuating my nice curves and hiding my not-so-nice ones, but some days I just feel like wearing a pretty dress and a baggy sweater and letting the bright colours and silly hair and butterfly earrings do all the talking. Because sometimes it isn't just about the figure, but the personality you want to show through your outfit that reflects who you are and how you choose to express yourself.

LOVE my Heart Key earrings I got on Etsy for my Steampunk Alice in Wonderland costume this past Halloween. I am, of course, completely infatuated with all things Wonderland so I didn't give a second thought to purchasing these beauties, knowing that I would for sure find a way to incorporate them into my everyday outfits. And keep on the lookout because I'm actually planning on doing a Wonderland post soon to show off some of my collection and artwork :)

Is That The Same Dress?

As a matter of fact it is! I have recently been motivated to work on my layering, as I seem to have lost my touch for it since moving to sunny LA. And I have to say, I am more than happy with the result: a brand new closet!

(Again, I've been a little backlogged so we're back to reddish hair and kitty nails!)

I wore the first outfit one day with a corduroy shirt my friend gave me and LOVED it with this particular one of my many flowery dresses. The next day I woke up ready to go to my next-door-neighbor’s daughter’s first birthday in the park (ladybug themed! SO adorable!),of course forgetting that it was Daylight Savings Time and losing an hour. So with just enough time to shower and leave I decided to pick this dress up off the pile on the floor next to my bed and wear it again and pretend I didn’t just wear it the day before and hope nobody would notice (don’t act like you don’t do it). Then with a spark of inspiration, I picked up this shirt and thought DEAR GOD IT’S SO CRAZY IT JUST MIGHT WORK.. And it’s funny because I’ve had this belt forever and even considered getting rid of it at one point because I could never make it work, but I grabbed it and looked in the mirror and was amazed at how perfectly it all came together, frankly, impressed with myself.

(It was to hot for boots so I switched to flats for the party. Goddammit SoCal.)

Now that almost all the dresses I own can be turned into skirts, my mind has been blown and my closet is practically twice as big! A very exciting new discovery. Looks like someone needs to go belt shopping ;)

OR I can make a bunch with all my new material from the Fashion District….OHMYGOD. Excuse me, I have some sewing to go do….

Is That Your Favourite Bag, Or Something?

Why yes it most certainly is! I got it at Goodwill for $8! And it's Nine West. I literally just stumbled across it asked how much it was and that was the end of it.

I love the colour and it has a bunch of pockets all over. It's also big enough to fit some of my binders in so it's now my most fabulous school bag! I'll never need to use my backpack again. Except I probably will since it's all Ravenclawed out.

This outfit reminds me of a bumble bee resting on a lavender flower. I think I'll call it Lavender Honey.

Wait, So Your Birthday Was Before Easter, Then?

No silly, that was just the party.

So after Saturday (recovery day) and Sunday (Easter), I was pooped by the time my actual Birthday rolled around. So I spent the day leisurely running around with my friend Ingrid to all the places where you can get free stuff on your birthday.

Seriously, you'd be surprised how many freebies you can get just 'cause it's your birthday. I mean I ate for free ALL DAY and my freezer is full because we mostly hit up ice cream parlors. lol. I had Denny's for breakfast (free Grand Slam), my fav drink from Starbucks (Venti Iced Soy Caramel Latte. TRY IT.), ice cream from Baskin Robbins, Coldstone and Ben & Jerry's, and froyo from Pinkberry and Yogurtland! We went a little nuts. So much so that we brought a cooler. I'M A BROKE COLLEGE STUDENT -- I'M NOT ASHAMED.
(List of places that give away freebies here. Don't act like you wouldn't do it too.)

And it's actually quite fitting that I now have so much ice cream in my house because last week I just happened to do Ice Cream Cone Nails on my toes!

Oh, and if I'd known to print out the coupon, a free Krispy Kreme doughnut, but I bought one anyway since we were there.

We were too excited in all of our running around that we forgot to take more pictures. Oops.

And later that night, because really, you just have to on your 21st, I went bar-hopping with my best friend and roommate, Molly, just to get carded. The first place we went was the Tam O' Shanter where we were for St. Patty' Day (lets just put it out there already that I've been using my sisters old ID since I was 18 so none of this is really new to me, but hey, I'm a traditionalist). I didn't get carded there but I did get free cookies and cake!

After that we went down the street to the Big Foot Lodge, a karaoke bar that looks like a hunting lodge!  I don't think the bouncer had seen anyone so happy and willing show their ID. Unfortunately there are no pictures of the night thereafter, because not only would they be quite incriminating, but after a generous "Sasquatch" and approximately 4 shots of whiskey, plus hard cider from the bar before... lets just say the thought of taking pictures slipped my mind. Much like the contents of my purse slipping out onto the taxicab floor at 3am. I think I lost my favourite chapstick that night.... I guess that means it was a successful 21st!

Yep, I've finally reached that last milestone. And so I say to Father Time, lets just put a pause on the the clock for, oh lets say, 10 years, and then we can start counting backwards from there. Deal? Deal. Cheers!

When Was Your Birthday Again?

April 1st! I am now officially 21-years-old! Whoohoo for legal drinking! (just ignore all the pictures and posts including glasses of wine previous to April 1st, 2013. lol.) Now, even though it's my spring break, it wasn't for everyone so since my birthday fell on a Monday, I decided to have my party the Friday before. And whilst I love me some pastels and all things pretty and spring-like, I figured the big Two-One deserved some special attention and I needed to think outside of the box.

Soooo..... here are some pics from my Roaring 20's Speakeasy Soiree!

“...the New Woman of the 1920s boldly asserted her right to dance, drink, smoke, and date—to work her own property, to live free of the strictures that governed her mother’s generation... She flouted Victorian-era conventions and scandalized her parents. In many ways, she controlled her own destiny.”
― Joshua Zeitz

On the Menu:
-Garlic Pesto Spaghetti
-Spring Salad
-Miniature Lemon Crab Cakes
-Avocado Deviled Eggs
-Mini Sandwich Triangles (Turkey & Cheese and PB&J)
-Veggie Platter with Ranch
-Lemon Cupcakes with Butter-cream Frosting
-Crackers & Chips with Goat Cheese & Hummus

The set up, complete with card tables and clue (because it was easier than actually putting together a murder mystery) and the Great Gatsby playing silently whilst the sounds of Electro-Swing filled the air. When guests entered and gave the correct password ("Shwasted") they were given poker chips so they could bet against each other, the person with the most chips at the end of the night winning shot glasses with card suits on them.

I figured since the party was still a few days before my actual birthday, meaning I was still technically underage, Prohibition was the way to go since it's a party to celebrate my being able to booze it up but still keeping it on the down low from the po'po'! And now that I'm a real adult, I get to get shwasted in a more classy manner, complete with pearls and flapper dresses, Martinis and Manhattans, and all that jazz.

Boy, You Really Love Easter, Don't You?

YES. YES I DO. Easter is quite possibly my FAVOURITE holiday, despite the fact that things like Thanksgiving and Christmas are so much bigger and wonderfuller and widely-celebrated and you actually get presents and all that jazz. And there's the fact that I’m not religious at all and Easter's all about the rebirth of Jesus or something.

But still.

Easter, for me, represents springtime and the wonderfulness of the sun finally making an appearance and bringing the flowers into bloom, the birth of fuzzy animals like bunnies and chicks, delicious veggies like carrots (my favourite!) and pastels up the WAZOO, which of course is what I live for. It's just the overall freshness of skipping around outside with a light sweater, a flowery dress, a basket for flower picking, and rainboots because the grass is wet with morning dew. Which is exactly the type of Easter it happened to be this year so I got to wear one of my most ideal outfits I own!

(Gahh!! I'm sorry I'm just dying of my overwhelming love of everything about this outfit!)

My favourite easy updo twists.

And my first go at Water Marbling -- Spring Themed

Of course, the night before we stayed up late dying Easter Eggs. This was our set up (glass of wine required)  plus Friends season 2 playing on my laptop.

Didn't get a whole lot of pictures of my eggs the next day because I was so busy making dinner and had to start on the deviled eggs right away BUT I did capture my pride and joy of the bunch, the solar system! Or at least my attempt at 2am.

Dinner time! My Friend Ingrid (in the polka-dot dress from Modcloth) dressed the salad and I talked my friend Molly (next picture down) through the Avocado Deviled Eggs, but other than that, I made Easter dinner all by myself for the first time ever! It's like I'm a real adult or something.

On the Menu:
Rosemary Garlic Lamb Chops, Scalloped Potatoes, Sweet-glazed Carrots & Onions, Lemon & Pepper Asparagus & Onions, Parmesan Leak Soup, Spring Salad & Avocado Deviled Eggs paired with a glass of Chablis.

Another reason I'm probably so in love with Easter is that sometimes it falls on my birthday, which is -- wait for it -- April 1st! That's right, I'm an April Fool's baby (along with Fred & George Weasley! As if it wasn't already an awesome day to be born on). This year, however, it was the day just before so at midnight, right after we changed into our Easter pj's and watched "Hop", we celebrated my birthday (post about my party to come) with chocolate cake and a glass of milk!

I know. We're ridiculous. But at least we have each other.
